My brother Todd and great friend Joel came to visit for two weeks. We were able to plan and execute a Himalayan trek near India's tallest mountain. After having more than one child I thought that our backcountry backpacking days were over due to the difficulties of carrying kids on our backs and also needing our gear and food etc... I thought that we would car camp until they were all old enough to hike and carry some gear, but I was wrong. Because we live in India and have access to Himalayan people and animals for a very low cost we can trek with a family in the backcountry! So with a lot of unknowns we went for it. After a 10 hour mountain drive and a couple days at the nearest town negotiating for donkeys, guides and jeep transport we started our trek. I think that the word "epic" is used way too much these days, but there is really no other way to describe it. When talking about the trip Priya says..."Hudson ride donkey" "Priya ride backpack"! The challenges we have faced these first 5 months in India, getting adjusted and learning how to live all seemed to drift away.....okay i did have a bunch of pictures loaded, but was unsuccessful in getting them on here so i will be working on the pictures and post them ASAP.
